Biography

Pablo Sevilla has an engineering oriented background. He received his bachelor degree in mechanical engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. He then moved to Wales and received his bachelor degree in aeronautical engineering at the University of Wales. Later, Pablo moved again to Barcelona where he studied his Master degree in Materials engineering. Pablo performed his PhD in Materials Science at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, under the supervision of Dr. Francisco Javier Gil and Dr. Conrado Aparicio, on the biofunctionalization of metallic surfaces with peptides and other biomolecules thank to a Spanish ministry grant (FPU). During this period Pablo performed part of his work in the University of Minnesota under the supervision of Dr. Alex Fok. Currently, Pablo is an Associate Professor and head of Mechanics Deptartent at Escola Universitària Salesiana de Sarrià (EUSS) and collaborates with GMMF from the University of Barcelona under the supervision of Dr. Carolina Sañudo in the field of molecular magnets synthesis and surface functionalization.

Scientific interests

Currently the lines of research of my interest are the following: 3D printing, Bioprinting. I do not work on any projects in this field but it is a field that interests me a lot. Functionalization of the surface. It is a field where I have a lot of experience and I am currently collaborating with the GMMF group of the UB developing new surfaces with magnetic and optical properties.

Specialties

Surface functionalization, biopeptides, osseointegration, biomaterials
